Job stories
Purpose
The purpose of this study was to learn from users how they use shopping lists in their everyday lives.
This study explored good experiences and bad experiences people have had with shopping lists. It also explored their process of finding a recipe and then shopping for ingredients.
Method
Data collection: unmoderated interviews via UserZoom
Output: Job stories.
For this study, time and resources were very limited. My goal was to determine some of the jobs people needed to complete in the “When [situation], I want to [motivation], so I can [expected outcome].”
While this wasn’t the complete Jobs-to-be-Done process, this was a useful first step that provided more actionable information about user needs than the traditional user persona.
